2011-12 Community Project
The goal of the Autism Society of North Carolina - Durham Chapter for the 2011-12 school year is to see ProjectLife Saver come to Durham County. Funds raised by the chapter this year, that are not otherwise earmarked, will go towards this project.
"Project Lifesaver International helps provide rapid response to save lives and reduce potential for serious injury for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer’s, autism, Down syndrome, dementia and other related cognitive conditions. Project Lifesaver provides equipment, training, certification and support to law enforcement, public safety organizations and community groups throughout the country and nation..."
..."Project Lifesaver International provides in-depth training for law enforcement and other public safety agencies on the use of specialized electronic search and rescue equipment, technology and procedures, as well as teaching rescuers how to communicate with people afflicted with cognitive conditions, all of which are essential to the successful rescue of missing persons who wander or otherwise become lost."
