For the Newly Diagnosed...

When someone in your family is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, there is a lot to process and a lot to learn. Neither of which is going to happen overnight. However, there are many proactive steps you can take to help you in this journey.

One of the first things you want to do is to get educated. The Interactive Autism Network and Autism Speaks have great information on their websites that can help guide you as you get started.

Also consider joining your local chapter of the Autism Society. This is a great way to gain information, network, and meet other families. Chapter meetings are open and designed to support new and veteran families.
